BIOGRAPHY:
My name is Carlos Alfredo Melara

year in the carrier. Honestly, I feel so excited about this experience. The
class is going to take place from 9 to 10:30. Honestly I am going to try my
best to help my students to learn the language and try to make fun. Moreover, I
also want to improve my teaching skills throughout practice.
Class Goal:
By the end of the teaching practicum I want to be able to lead the class assertively and effectively in order to get involved my students into a learning atmosphere where they really acquire a second language.

THEORY ABOUT ADOLESCENTS
This is a window to
show my perspective of my own experience as a student polishing my skills to
become a teacher. I truly feel glad for the opportunity to show some thoughts regarding
this new experience and present them here. Indeed I feel so much positive about the
fact that we have the opportunity to take this lesson. Honestly, I think that
teaching practicum, from the first to third are training levels. These levels
prepare us to the real teaching field. Sincerely I consider that teaching is a matter
of mixing some things. On one hand we have to master the topic we are teaching. On
the other hand the individual must be assertive and creative as well. These
aspects can help to manage the
environment in the classroom properly.
Through the pass
weeks we have been discussing about what’s in adolescents brains. We realized
why they behave like they do. We also are aware now about the importance of the
environment for promoting teaching effectively. In my case I was not aware of
the influence that the prefrontal cortex has in judgment and emotions. Sincerely, I
used to think that untill we turn eighteen we were not developing more inner
functions. Therefore it was a surprise to know that prefrontal cortex still
develops until the age of twenty.
I also want to take into a consideration Piaget’s
point of view about adolescents. Comparing, Vygotsky who presents a counterpart
that resembles a theory supported on the sociocultural context. I think that as
a teacher I would not be professional if I trust one hundred percent only on
one theory. I strongly believe that is important to consider both perspectives to have a general view of teenagers behavior and development with
the aim to help them more efficiently to acquire a second language which is
what we concern.
There is important information that, we as
teacher, should take into account: The type of learning we have in the
classroom. It is important to consider that for acquiring the second language
we need interaction, to promote interaction it is important to get everybody
involved in the activities developed in the lesson. To challenge the learner’s
brain without making the task impossible duty. We should find alternative, innovative and creative ways to raise interest
in both sides of the coin. The ones who are more advanced in the language and
so the learners that find it not as easy. Finally, applying the eclectic
methods to develop the class with a positive and assertive confidence. The goal of the class is going to be successfully achieved.
I consider that as a teacher I have to encourage students to be encharged on their own learning
process. The critical thinking should be part of the priorities. I have to be
aware of the fact that teenagers are in a transition process from secondary to
high-school and then to the university. Therefore, they need to adapt their
lives to the new rhythm of the adolescence concerns in all ways. Many of them
suffer the top dog phenomenon when they pass another educational levels or
environment. Another fact I have to be conscious is the classroom climate and
how to manage the situations in the room. To assume an authoritative position it is
important manage the class efficiently.
